From the outset, our mission was clear and urgent: to reach people at the earliest possible stage. Prevention and safety were not just our goals but our unwavering commitment.
We recognised the need for a new, unique approach to reducing gambling harm—faster, more effective, and scalable. We placed real-life experience at the core of our strategy, believing that this wealth of knowledge, skills, and unique insights would be the foundation for practical, effective solutions.
Our journey began in October 2017. We met with people personally on all sides of the debate, from dark, dingy halls on cold, wet nights to grand offices in the corridors of power. Listening and learning, reading and researching, blogs, tweets, articles, forums, conferences, Zoom meetings, and late-night FaceTime calls. We gave evidence to the government’s Select Committee and the Gambling Review. Snatching moments anywhere we could with anyone we felt we could learn from or further our cause.
In August 2019, we formulated the first creative ideas for an online safety tool called Don’t Bet Your Life on it and began building our dream team. We needed to source innovative technical experts to create an affordable avatar and virtual mentoring system, specialists in media and marketing, a voice actor, and ADR specialists. Those people needed to share our vision and be invested in our project.
Today, we are proud to say we have a magnificent team around us working for the common good. Our collaboration’s creative energy is among PGS’s greatest strengths.
Our innovative approach to reducing gambling-related harm is straightforward yet revolutionary. We are leveraging today’s technologies to reach people at scale, making help available, like a ’buddy in your back pocket’, 24/7, 365 days a year, free and accessible to all.
